Search Engine Optimization for Affiliate Marketing

ByMichael Cervantes
In this article, we would like to give you an overview of search engine optimization, which is one of the most important and most powerful ways to generate traffic to your website for the long-term.
What exactly is search engine optimization?
Simply put, search engine optimization (or SEO) is the process of setting up your site properly to improve your search engine ranking. Now, Google and other search engines do not reveal their exact formulas for determining which websites show up at the top of their results. Nevertheless, SEO experts have been able to study this for many years and have pretty much come to an agreement about what it takes to get more traffic from search engines.
On page optimization
The first step to getting more traffic from Google and other search engines is to make sure you have performed proper on-page optimization. What this means is that the keyword phrase you want to rank for should show up on your webpage in specific places. For one thing, the keyword phrase should be in your title tag and a header tag at the top of your page. In addition, the keyword phrases should show up early on in the first paragraph of your article, and perhaps a few more times throughout the page (depending on the length of your article).
You definitely don't want to overdo this by including your desired keyword phrase, say, 10 times in a short 300 word article. This would be really obvious to Google that you are simply stuffing keyword phrases in order to improve your rankings, and this kind of tactic no longer works.
Off page optimization is the real key to improving search engine rankings.
The most important factor to improving your rankings according to most experts is off page optimization. In other words, the more inbound links you have coming back to your website, the better chances you have of getting a high search engine ranking. Generally speaking, the more links you have the better, but you also want these links to have the correct anchor text. That is a fancy way of saying that the actual text that makes up the link should include your keyword phrase.
There are other factors involved, such as the importance and relevance of the websites linking to you. For example, a link from the Wall Street Journal would be considered much more important than a link from your friend's blog (unless your friend happens to be a very well- known blogger!). Also, a link from a major website in your industry would be a more valuable than any from a website in a different niche.
Nevertheless, all of the links we mentioned above would still be valuable.
There are a number of other factors involved in search engine rankings, including the age of your domain, but links are probably the biggest factor (and it's one that you can influence to a large extent).

How To Set Up A Successful Pay-Per-Click Campaign

If you are familiar with Pay-Per-Click ads, then you know that these types of paid search marketing work by putting ads on the side bar of your search engine or web site and are used to bring people to your web site. The concept is pretty simple. You create an ad.You place a price upon its worth. And you submit it to a search engine. When someone clicks on that ad, you are charged a price for it and they end up on your web site. You only have to pay if someone clicks on it. Sounds pretty simple, doesn't it? But now for the tricky question. Are you getting your money's worth from these ads? Ninety-nine percent of the businesses that use this type of advertising do not understand it. They send people to their home page and don't even know why the person came there in the first place. What's worse is the person who cost you that advertising cost leaves without you ever knowing what they were looking for. How much does this cost you each month? Does this mean that you...
