Affiliate Marketing Basics - Own Keyword Research: Step Two

Keyword research is essential in being successful online. This article is the second part of Own Keyword Research. After finding your first ten keywords, it is time to learn how to track and rank them, plus use Google Analytics to super-charge your traffic.

As you are still learning the affiliate marketing basics, it may be hard to believe, but you have traffic now. Even if it is only a few searches per day, if you followed the instructions in Step One, you will have traffic at this point. It is time to track the progress, or lack there of, of your keywords. There are numerous free and paid SEO tracking tools. Search for rank tracking tools and choose one that will update your keywords automatically and those that offer graphs are even better. Visualizing the progress of a keyword on a graph makes it easier to interpret the progress. You can visit my blog for recommendations.

Tracking is introduced in the affiliate marketing basics quite early. However, it seems to only be applied to tracking affiliate links. Tracking keywords is rather overlooked. It is imperative to track keywords so you know if you are working with something profitable, or something that is garbage. It really stings to discover hours of time wasted on a keyword that turned out to be negative. The SEO tools allow you to enter all of your keywords and your URL in to the software and it reveals your rank for each keyword. No matter how good or bad a keyword looks initially, for each keyword and the content they are in, you have to build back links for them. I will discuss how to create quality back links in a future article, for now, I want you to focus on establishing a strong keyword foundation to build your traffic from.

Google Analytics is always introduced in the affiliate marketing basics. It must be installed on your blog. It is your weapon to maximize your keyword potential. When you log in to your Analytics account, go to traffic sources. There will be three options, click on Sources. Next, you need to click on Search. Last, go to Organic. This will show you the top ten search terms people entered in to Google that lead them to your website. Guess What? You just discovered your ticket to success! Create more content around the search terms (keywords) that are bringing you traffic!

Tracking keywords is the second step in the Affiliate Marketing Basics, Own Keyword Research. In the next step I will explain how to diagnose why a keyword that seemed so promising may not be working. To see a short step-by-step how to video on how to use Google Analytics to find what terms people are using to find your website, please see the link on the end of this post on my blog. Good luck, I'll see you in Step Three.

How To Set Up A Successful Pay-Per-Click Campaign

If you are familiar with Pay-Per-Click ads, then you know that these types of paid search marketing work by putting ads on the side bar of your search engine or web site and are used to bring people to your web site. They send people to their home page and don't even know why the person came there in the first place. What's worse is the person who cost you that advertising cost leaves without you ever knowing what they were looking for. How much does this cost you each month? Does this mean that you...
