How Affiliate Marketing Works

Four years ago I lost my job as an Electrician, and to be honest I thought this is the end. I spent a couple of months filling out job applications and even went through several interviews with no joy or any result of a much needed job. I then came to a decision, that maybe I should give this whole internet marketing lark a try.

I did not really know where to start, so I took a friend's advice and started to do some research into Affiliate Marketing. It took me a little while to grasp the concept but Affiliate Marketing is basically, you making commissions (money) out of promoting other peoples products. Yep, it's that simple, but then it's knowing how to get started.

The first thing you need to do is to find a product to promote, there are a lot of Affiliate products out there so you need to decide which type you are going to go with. The different types are as follows.

When you visit someone's webpage, if you look (usually) right at the bottom of the page there will be a tab labelled as simply affiliates. If you click on this you will be redirected to the websites affiliate program. Here you will be prompted to sign up, and you will usually be given different types of tools e.g. banners, pre written emails, pieces of code to put on your website etc., it will explain to you what you will get paid, for every person that successfully buys or signs up to the product via your promotion, or your links that refer them to that specific website.

The other path to go down is the ClickBank Market place. The ClickBank Market place is basically a huge catalogue of products that people or companies have put on there for Affiliate Marketers to promote for them. The market place has tons of categories to choose from, weather you're in the body building niche or the make money online niche there is definitely something for everyone to promote on there.

The Path I went down was with ClickBank, and I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is just starting out. The reason for this is that you have got everything you need in one place, for example each product lets you have a look at the sales page for yourself beforehand, because you need to know what you are actually promoting, there is no point in promoting something you know nothing about in my eyes. Another plus point is that just below each product on your screen, ClickBank displays certain information including the percentage of money you will receive for each sale. The information also tells you how well the product is selling, how popular it is with other affiliates promoting it, and also if and how much you will receive, if the product is recurring monthly subscription of which you will get paid a commission of.

I have been into Affiliate Marketing for the best part of Three and a half years now, and I have been promoting nothing but ClickBank products in this time and have seen a steady income of commissions coming in month after month. This is now my full time job, and I am so glad I got into this game.
